Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Murray comes from an athletic background. His father, Roger Murray, who grew up involved in track and field and basketball, shaped the backbone of his son’s basketball career. Murray’s unconditional support from his parents encouraged his early days in college basketball. On graduating as a five-star recruit, Murray was committed to play for Kentucky Wildcats. And a year later in 2016, he was picked by Denver Nuggets as the 7th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft.
