Oscar Piastri is considered to be one of the most promising talents in motorsport. As such, he was duly snatched up by McLaren after a battle with Alpine. Piastri was born in Melbourne, Australia. on 6th April 2001. He races with the Australian flag and will use car number 88 with McLaren.
When did Oscar Piastri join Formula 1?
As of January 2023, Oscar Piastri is set to make his Formula 1 race debut with McLaren. But he may well have been at Alpine – the matter even went to the Contract Recognition Board! The CRB deemed the McLaren contract as the only valid one. He will partner with Lando Norris, another young racing driver, that is considered to be one of the best on the grid already.
What are Oscar Piastri’s achievements?
Oscar Piastri is a prodigious talent and had a very decorated junior racing career. He won Formula Renault Eurocup in 2019 and Formula 3 in 2020. He topped it all off with his Formula 2 championship win in 2021. That’s three (junior) championship wins in three years. As for Formula 1, we’ll just have to wait and see what Piastri can achieve, in what one can only assume will be a long career.
