‘Tarzan’ had an undefeated run in the regional MMA promotions. Soon, the UFC came calling. Strickland made his UFC debut in March 2014. He fought Bubba McDaniel at UFC 171 and submitted him in the first round.

Strickland became the middleweight champion at UFC 293. He defeated longtime champion Israel Adesanya to win the belt. It was a massive underdog win as no one expected ‘Tarzan’ to outclass Adesanya. However, he lost the title at UFC 297 via split decision to Dricus Du Plessis.
