Full Name Ty Gibbs

Tyler Randal Gibbs is a professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time in the Cup series for the Joe Gibbs Racing No:54 team. He is the grandson of the JGR owner and NFL Hall of Fame Coach Joe Gibbs and was born on October 4, 2002, to Coy Gibbs and Heather Gibbs. He is the nephew of late JGR co-owner CD Gibbs, and his cousins are renowned college football athletes.

When was Ty Gibbs’s NASCAR debut?

Born into a motor racing family, Gibbs had all the resources under his disposal to build a successful NASCAR career. He made a name for himself in the kart-Pro and Late Model Stock race series before making his debut in the ARCA Mendes series for JGR in 2019. Gibbs spent three years in the series before making his NASCAR debut for JG R in the 2021 Xfinity series. He made his full-time Xfinity series debut in 2022. The No:84 driver made his Cup series debut in the 2022 season as a substitute driver for Kurt Busch, for 23XI Racing, who was out due to a concussion.

Ty Gibbs won the 2022 Xfinity series title in his rookie season, scoring 7 wins for Joe Gibbs Racing. His first NASCAR win came in the 2023 Daytona Road Course Race in 2021. He was awarded the 2022 Xfinity series Rookie of the year award. The 2021 ARCA Medes Series Champion has scored 118 NASCAR wins in his career, all of which came in the Xfinity series.  Ty Gibbs’s father, Coy Gibbs, Passed away just the day after his 2022 Xfinity title win.
