Yuki Tsunoda is a Japanese racing driver who currently competes for Scuderia AlphaTauri in Formula 1. Tsnuoda was born on May 11, 2000, in Sagamihara, Japan. He is the 21st Japanese driver to compete in the racing series, and as of now, the only one that is on the grid.

When did Yuki Tsunoda join Formula 1?

Yuki Tsunoda was tipped to replace Daniil Kyvat at AlphaTauri, and he made his debut for the team at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. It went well too: His P9 finish put him among a ‘club’ (one that includes the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz) of debutants who have scored points in their first race.

In his two seasons as a Formula 1 driver, Yuki Tsunoda has unfortunately not had the pleasure to step on the podium. He has not taken a pole position yet either. He scored 22 points over his two seasons as an F1 driver. However, he did win in his junior career. In 2018, he won the F4 Japanese Championship (having finished third the season before). Apart from that, In 2020, the year before his promotion to F1, Tsunoda finished third in Formula 2, behind Mick Schumacher, who was the champion, and Callum Ilott.
