Things are just not going the way Tanner Scott is hoping for. In the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ relief pitcher came in the bottom of the 9th inning with his team leading 4-3. He unfortunately ended up blowing another save as the D-backs walked off the Dodgers 4-5.

After winning the World Series against the New York Yankees last season, the Dodgers went on to splash the cash on several signings. Just days after acquiring Roki Sasaki, the team roped in Scott. They acquired him on a 4-year $72 million deal through free agency.

Scott was expected to play a massive role from the bullpen this year for the Dodgers. However, things have not worked out the way the team management would have wanted.

On Tuesday, the Dodgers seemed to be in cruise control of the game. Two-way star Shohei Ohtani would throw 91 pitches in 6 scoreless innings and managed to pick up 8 strikeouts.

Once again, the Dodgers conceded runs the moment he left the mound. Last week after throwing 5 hitless innings, the team lost 9-6 against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Jack Dreyer and Edgardo Henrique combined to give up 3 runs in the 7th inning. After Alex Vesia threw a scoreless 8th inning, Dave Roberts turned towards Tanner Scott.

The former San Diego Padres star first hit Ildemaro Vargas and then walked Tim Tawa. A sacrifice bunt from James McCann saw the runners advance to third and second base. Scott then gave up a sacrifice fly to Jorge Barrosa, which tied the game at 4-4.

This turned out to be his 10th blown save of the season. Geraldo Perdomo then completed the comeback from 4-0 down with a single to left field and handed Scott his 4th loss of the season.

Scott now has a 1-4 record with a 4.91 ERA in 59 games. Last season, he had a 1.75 ERA with a 9-6 record in 72 games while representing the Miami Marlins and the San Diego Padres.

Social media reacts to Tanner Scott blowing another save for the Los Angeles Dodgers

After starting the season 8-0, it seemed 2025 would be the year where the record for the most wins by a team could be broken. However, the Los Angeles Dodgers have suffered several bumps on the road since then, with Tanner Scott finding himself in the spotlight for some of the losses.

Tuesday’s blown save against the Arizona Diamondbacks was the 10th blown save of this season for him. The major problem for the Dodgers is that he is not the only bullpen member who has struggled this year. The entire bullpen of the team has suffered a massive dip in form, which has seen it concede runs late on.

Following Scott’s blown save, fans on X thrashed him again. Many threw in some wild reactions while expressing their anger. One user wrote, “should never see the field again” while making their feelings known.

Check out that and some other reactions from X below:

After winning 4 games in a row, the Dodgers have now lost 2 successive games. This has put them in a vulnerable position in the NL West standings. The Padres are now just 1.5 games behind them with 5 left to play.

Clayton Kershaw makes him available for selection for the bullpen of Dodgers amidst struggles of Tanner Scott and other relievers

There is no denying off the fact that the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen is having a hard time closing out games. With the playoffs just around the corner, Clayton Kershaw has made himself available for selection from the bullpen amid the struggles of Tanner Scott and other relievers.

Last week, the 11-time All-Star announced his decision to retire from MLB after the conclusion of the 2025 season. He is currently scheduled to make his final start on Sunday when the Dodgers take on the Seattle Mariners.

However, with the division race still going on, the veteran pitcher has reportedly spoken with manager Dave Roberts and offered his services from the bullpen.

Kershaw has worked as a relief pitcher before. If needed, the Dodgers could turn their attention towards the veteran southpaw. Even Shohei Ohtani has offered himself as a relief pitcher and informed the team that he is ready for a position change should the team need it in the playoffs.

At the moment, the Dodgers occupy the third seed in the National League. As a result of this, they will likely be part of a wild-card series instead of having a bye directly into the National League Division Series (NLDS).
