As the year 2025 inches closer to an end, there is still no clarity regarding the future of Tatsuya Imai. The Japanese pitcher recently revealed that he has not received any concrete offers from teams. The Los Angeles Dodgers fans would make fun of him after he dropped some bold comments regarding them earlier on.

Imai is one name that has been linked with several teams. The 27-year-old had an impressive season this year with the Seibu Lions in the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). In 24 games, he went 10-5 while pitching with a 1.92 ERA and picking up 178 strikeouts.

With the way things have gone in the past few seasons, several fans expected the Dodgers to pick him up. However, the player made it clear from the start that he would not be signing with the 2-time defending champions and would rather try to take them down.

Of course, I’d enjoy playing alongside Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Sasaki, but winning against a team like that and becoming a world champion would be the most valuable thing in my life. If anything, I’d rather take them down.

Like every Japanese player from the NPB, Imai has a window to get signed by MLB teams. On January 2, this window will be closed. If he remains unsigned by an MLB team by then, he will return to the NPB in Japan.

In a recent interview on TV Asahi’s “Udo Times” program, the right-handed pitcher expressed that there was no concrete offers from team on the table.

Apparently, there actually aren’t many concrete options on the table yet. And it seems that having teams show interest and receiving a formal offer are completely different things.
