John McEnroe’s ex-wife and popular actress Tatum O’Neal has opened up about reuniting with the tennis legend for their son’s upcoming wedding. The couple married in 1986 and had three children together before divorcing in 1994. Since then, there has been a strained relationship between the pair.

O’Neal is best known for her role in the 1974 movie Paper Moon, as she became the youngest Oscar winner in history (at age 10) after winning the Best Supporting Actress. The actress got married to the tennis legend but the marriage didn’t last. Following the divorce, O’Neal lost custody of their three children; son Kevin, 38, and Sean, 37, and daughter Emily, 33.

McEnroe obtained custody of the kids in 1998 after a long court battle. O’Neal previously revealed that her anger towards McEnroe after parting ways was the way he treated her during the marriage. The famous actress also added that she felt insignificant to the tennis legend during the court battle for the custody of their children.

However, the former couple are set to reunite after decades at their son Kevin’s wedding. The wedding is set to take place in Northern California in June. Despite the deep animosity between O’Neal and McEnroe, the former US certain that things will go smoothly in their meeting. She disclosed in a recent interview, saying that she was no longer angry with her ex-husband.

Her son, Kevin, then added that after all the animosity, the family is now wishing to move. He added that his mother will give a speech at his wedding. O’Neal then reacted that all the good things are what they seek.

Nonetheless, after O’Neal’s divorce, McEnroe married his second wife, Patty Smyth in 1997. The couple are still together and they share two daughters.

Despite it being ten years after the divorce, she added that they still engaged in a “psychic drama” while their children helped to bridge the gap.
