Travis Kelce failed to turn up against the Buffalo Bills inside a packed Highmark Stadium on Sunday. As a result, the Kansas City Chiefs failed to keep their unbeaten run intact, losing 30-21.

With three consecutive 60-yard games (which included a 100-yard outing against the Buccaneers), Chiefs fans started to believe that the old Travis Kelce was finally back. However, they were brought back down to earth by the Bills because Kelce only caught two passes all night (0 in the first half) from four targets.

KC’s dreams of being only the second team to go undefeated (1972 Miami Dolphins) the entire season were dashed by their bitter rivals, the Bills.

Fans blame Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce’s poor performance against Bills

This was the first Chiefs game in a while where pop icon and Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift wasn’t in attendance. Swift, busy with her Eras Tour in Toronto, missed a highly contested game that saw the Bills’ defense pick off quarterback Patrick Mahomes twice.

More often than not, if Mahomes struggles in a game, then the Chiefs offense struggles as well. Kelce’s poor game was only its by-product. However, enraged fans blamed Swift for the 35-year-old’s bad outing in Buffalo.

The same happened at the start of the season when Kelce struggled to keep up with the rest of the offense. Head coach Andy Reid defended the All-Pro tight end back then.

I know people are saying that he’s old or that he has distractions, but defenses don’t think that. Trav is fine. He just keeps being Trav, and works his tail off. He hasn’t lost a step, not distracted. We have another receiver that plays opposite him that has a lot of yards and catches, and that’s how this thing goes. Travis is fine.

Mahomes claimed that he wants to throw Kelce the ball more, but he isn’t bothered by receiving fewer passes compared to other receivers.

I want to get him the ball more… Whereas he’s just like, ‘I just want to win, man, I don’t care. I’ll run these routes and take guys with me so that other guys can get open.’

It wasn’t only Kelce who had a down game against the Bills. None of the Chiefs receivers caught five passes. Rookie receiver Xavier Worthy and tight end Noah Gray caught four passes each and contributed in three combined touchdowns. The defeat leaves the Chiefs with a 9-1 record, and next week they will travel to Charlotte and play against the Carolina Panthers.
