WNBA star Caitlin Clark joined Jason and Travis Kelce on their podcast where she cleared the air about her 'Swiftie' fandom.

Caitlin Clark clarifies the air on 'bandwagon' rumors about her Taylor Swift fandom
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, fresh off a stellar rookie season in the WNBA, addressed long-standing speculation about her Kansas City Chiefs fandom on the latest episode of New Heights, the podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce. With Taylor Swift now dating Travis Kelce, many have jumped on the Chiefs’ bandwagon, but Clark made it clear that she isn’t one of them.
While discussing her NFL loyalties, Caitlin Clark clarified that her love for the Chiefs stems from her upbringing. Growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, a mere three hours from Kansas City, Clark said her family had been “ride or die” Chiefs fans for years, before Patrick Mahomes or Travis Kelce became household names.
“I had family in Kansas City and grew up in Des Moines, which is only three hours from Kansas City, so that’s just the closest NFL team… My dad was a big Chiefs fan growing up. People think I’m like a bandwagon Chiefs fan. I’m like, ‘No, I was there before Patrick and Travis‘”

Clark’s declaration left no room for doubt. Her allegiance to the Chiefs is deeply rooted in family traditions, not just the recent hype surrounding the reigning NFL champions. Beyond her Chiefs fandom, Caitlin Clark also shared her experience as a fan of Taylor Swift, or a ‘Swiftie’ as most would call it. Just last month, Kelce declared Clark a ‘Swiftie’ upon meeting her at the Eras tour.
Swift, who is in a high-profile relationship with Travis Kelce, has millions of fans across the globe, breaking records and tour sales with her latest Eras tour. Clark admitted to being a Swiftie, and even turning family members, such as her mother into ‘Swifties’. As Travis Kelce looked on in admiration, Clark revealed on the show that she had already visited multiple concerts from the tour.
Caitlin Clark backs Patrick Mahomes’ bid to bring WNBA team to Kansas City
The New Heights episode wasn’t just about football and Swiftmania. Caitlin Clark also weighed in on the potential expansion of the WNBA to Kansas City, a cause championed by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes.
“Women’s basketball could be great there, so I’d support it,” Clark stated, adding her voice to Kansas City’s growing campaign for a WNBA franchise.
The Mahomes family, already part of the ownership group for the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, has been vocal about their desire to expand into women’s basketball. Their investment in the Current has already bolstered Kansas City’s reputation as a hub for women’s sports.
Caitlin Clark’s endorsement isn’t without merit. Kansas City has shown strong support for women’s athletics, from the KC Current to hosting the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament. Patrick Mahomes himself has been an ardent propagator of the city’s passion for sports, describing it as a perfect environment for a WNBA team.
The WNBA plans to expand to 15 teams by 2026, with Kansas City emerging as a serious contender for one of the slots. The Mahomes-led ownership group has reportedly held discussions with the league, exploring the feasibility of establishing a franchise at the T-Mobile Center.
