Juan Soto’s HR leads Yankees to 5-2 win over Guardians
While fans were happy to see Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Game 1 of the ALCS series, it wasn’t the pop star’s first experience at an MLB game. Swift performed the national anthem in 2008 when the Philadelphia Phillies took on the Tampa Bay Rays.

While Guardians fans were not happy to see Cleveland-born Kelce smiling at the Yankees game, Swift’s reaction was adorned and welcomed by the NY fans. Juan Soto’s home run boosted the NY Yankees to a 5-2 win, prompting the team to take a 1-0 lead in the ALCS.
When asked what was Soto’s key to having success against Guardians pitcher Alex Cobb, he jokingly said, “I can’t tell you that right now, I can tell you that after the game. I bet you he’s listening.” Manager Aaron Boone also had high praise for the outfielder as he noted,
It doesn’t surprise you. It’s what he’s done all year. It’s the kind of player he is. This is who he is.
