Among these are the trades of Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors and Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, which took the NBA world by storm. However, many did expect Butler to make a move due to how his situation unfolded. Notably, Kendrick Perkins had a unique take regarding Butler’s trade.
Following several suspensions from the Miami Heat, Butler’s move ends a month-long dispute with the team. In a recent NBA Today episode, Perkins shared his thoughts on the deal using a musical analogy. After learning that it was simply ‘Nicki Minaj‘(drew parallels with Butler), Perkins said that he was upset. This was because he had assumed the Warriors would acquire a superstar.

Kendrick Perkins believes that Minaj is inferior to Taylor Swift and Beyonce. Even though the well-known rapper has received a great deal of praise on her own. However, making parallels between Minaj and Butler surely brought some laughs and grins on the NBA Today episode. In addition, Perkins also claimed on the show that the Warriors would be knocked out in the first round despite signing Butler.

Aside from this, the fact that the Warriors traded Andrew Wiggins in their deal to get Jimmy Butler is a significant aspect that could be negative. Wiggins was never as good of a scorer for the Dubs as Curry. But he was a strong defender, especially thanks to his wide wingspan. It remains to be seen how the Warriors perform going forward into the 2024-25 NBA season.

Finally, Jimmy Butler has joined a new squad. Shortly after joining the Golden State Warriors, the six-time All-Star signed a two-year, $111 million contract after being traded to them on Wednesday. In a recent interview with Marc J. Spears, Butler clarified that he wanted to leave the Miami Heat because of a lack of communication.

Butler was suspended three times during his last days with Miami, primarily for “conduct detrimental to the team.” He is eager to move on from his suspensions with his new club.
