The word “podcast” emerged only in the mid-2000s when a The Guardian columnist, Ben Hammersley, allegedly used it for the first time, merging the words “iPod and “broadcast.” Since its introduction, the concept of podcasting has seen many changes as it takes center stage in modern-day “sportscasting”.

The advent of the podcasting culture has seen many players, with some names more prominent than others. In the sports sector, the podcast hosted by two NFL brothers, Travis and Jason Kelce, New Heights is one of the top names. And it’s gaining even more fans on August 13th. The reason for the new fans would be the scheduled appearance of Travis’ girlfriend and pop star Taylor Swift.

In a video dropped on Wednesday morning, a specific segment has gone viral. In the trailer, the eldest Kelce brother, Jason Kelce, gave a really long introduction for Swift. The introduction included a long list of Swift’s achievements, including her Grammy wins, record-smashing Eras Tour, and even her wins as the “fan of that guy on the Chiefs.” The former lineman was, in fact, breathless.

He quipped, “I’m cramping, to which Swift could only joke and state, “His soul has left his body!”

Swift’s debut podcast appearance on New Heights, her first interview since being named Time’s Person of the Year in 2023, has fueled massive buzz, helping the show hold the No. 1 spot on Apple Podcasts. A teaser clip of her announcing her next album shattered Instagram’s 24-hour view record with 134 million views.

“The Life of a Showgirl” has got Taylor Swift as the talking point all over the internet

Taylor Swift has officially kicked off a new era with the announcement of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The internationally acclaimed singer had only finished one of the biggest concert tours in the history of music last December. The new album has sparked a huge uproar among her fans, who are eagerly awaiting new music to add to their playlists.

The reveal came during a teaser clip for the New Heights podcast, hosted by NFL star Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.

In the clip, Swift appears with a mint green briefcase bearing her initials “T.S” in orange. Opening it, she unveiled her new album, though the cover remains blurred, prompting excited reactions from both Kelce brothers.

This release comes just under 18 months after The Tortured Poets Department (April 19, 2024). Swift’s official website now reflects the album’s orange-and-mint-green theme and offers pre-orders for vinyl, cassette, and CD, set to ship before October 13, 2025. While the exact release date is yet to be confirmed, fans are already speculating.

When the Eras Tour wrapped on December 8, 2024, Swift bid farewell to the crowd with a promise to see them in the “next era,” exiting the stage through an orange door. Fans have since noted that 12/8 is the reverse of 8/12, the date she revealed her new album.

Adding to the intrigue, one fan highlighted that Swift wore an orange-and-green plaid outfit in London on August 12, 2024, exactly one year before the album announcement. Others have pointed out her recent shift from her trademark red lipstick to a more orange shade, in line with the new era’s color palette. After all, Swifties love to dig up Easter Eggs. It might not be wrong to say that the hype this time is more than ever.

Rumours point to longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, credited on all 22 tracks in a Spotify playlist linked via new Times Square and Nashville billboards.
