The Cruel Summer singer’s dating profile was strictly non-athlete before she gave a chance to the Kansas City Chiefs’ TE Travis Kelce. Taylor Swift, who previously dated the likes of Matty Healy and Joe Alwyn, was linked to the athlete in 2023, and their romance has since blossomed to an engagement and an upcoming June wedding.

Speaking in the fourth episode of the new Docuseries, The End of an Era, titled “Thank You For the Lovely Bouquet,” Swift revealed that she was quite hesitant to date Kelce. In fact, it was her mom, Andrea Swift, who played matchmaker between the now-engaged couple.

Andrea came across Kelce’s public plea to meet Swift and gift her the friendship bracelet he made for her. She found his intent cute and sweet and researched Kelce through her cousin, Robin. Robin praised Kelce and told Andrea that the tight end loves his mother endlessly, which was an instant green flag for the 67-year-old.

Despite her mother’s push, Swift had her own reasons to be confused about dating Kelce, and it had to do with his work. Swift said in the recently dropped episode 4 of the docuseries:

Well, they had plenty to talk about; more importantly, Kelce had to explain his world to Swift. Swift also revealed that her now-fiancé had explained football like a game of violent chess with high speed and aggression. Apparently, that helped her understand the game and, to her surprise, slowly made her fall in love with the sport.

Before Kelce, Swift’s public romances were almost always with entertainment industry professionals. She had briefly dated actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Lautner. She dated Calvin Harris for two years while she had a short fling with John Mayer after the pair collaborated for the song ‘Half of my Heart.’

During the beginning of the Eras Tour, Swift was with British actor Joe Alwyn. The pair dated for around six years before breaking up soon after the Eras Tour kicked off in early 2023. A couple of weeks later, she was romantically linked to The 1975 frontman Matty Healy. However, TMZ reported that she called it quits around a month later.

And it may be going down in Rhode Island. The dates, however, are not confirmed, nor is the location. In fact, the duo isn’t in any hurry to get it done. According to an insider, who spoke to People, nothing about their wedding planning feels hurried or imbalanced.

When it comes to wedding planning, nothing feels rushed or one-sided. They’re both equally involved and excited, and this isn’t something one or the other is carrying on their own. They’re approaching it as a partnership, talking things through together and enjoying the process in a way that feels natural to them.

Adding to that, another source shared with Us Weekly that Swift hopes the journey toward the wedding feels calm, grounded, and free of unnecessary chaos. The source also added that the event will be modest in the guest count, opting for a more intimate and personal ceremony.
