Taylor Townsend is finding it quite difficult to juggle both career and motherhood, so much so that she had a bit of a meltdown. But Townsend has vowed to continue pushing.

Townsend’s son, AJ (Adyn Aubrey Johnson), was born on March 14, 2021. On Tuesday (December 16), Townsend took to Instagram and shared several clips where she discussed the difficulties of balancing work and motherhood by sharing adorable clips of her kid.

I keep forgetting how hard this is. Like, I’m Ubering because AJ’s caretaker is out. Thank goodness that my best friend is here. She took him to school while I go to the gym, then I have to fit everything in. Go to the gym, going home and get my food, then go to practice, then go back to the gym for my cardio session, and then be done with that so I can leave, go pick him up, have swim class today to then come home… I almost cried this morning. But Imma push through.

Townsend made a lot of headlines this year, not only because of her doubles performance but also due to her altercation with Jelena Ostapenko during the US Open. Because Townsend did not apologize for a net cord, the Latvian said the American has “no class” and “no education,” and this comment was perceived as racist. During the Asian swing, the World No.119 criticized Chinese food items, and this time, she was called a racist.

In Grand Slam events this year, the 29-year-old produced her best when she reached the fourth round of the US Open, where 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova knocked the home favorite out in three sets. In doubles, however, Townsend and her partner Katerina Siniakova clinched the Australian Open against the pair of Hsieh Su-wei and Ostapenko.

The pair also reached the final of the US Open but couldn’t defeat Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe. Townsend also clinched her second WTA 1000 doubles title at the Dubai Open. She paired up with Siniakova, and they beat Su-wei and Ostapenko.

Taylor Townsend did it all on that day. After gym, she went for practice, ate her lunch, and then forgot about the Christmas party for his class. She went to Target, and because she is a “boy mom,” she knows that he would like toy cars, but she said she had no idea what to gift the girls would like.

In one of the stories, AJ is seen crying loudly in the backseat because he broke his whistle, which he didn’t want to break. In the next story, as AJ kept weeping, Townsend turned the music “louder to try and drown out this noise…. Because I can’t.” But AJ fell asleep later, and Townsend whispered, “I’m done, I’m done, I’m done.”

“No matter what… I love ending his day this way,” wrote Townsend on her next story, as in the clip, she read a book to him, who was all attention and listened intently to her mommy. On the last story, Townsend cupped her face, looking completely exhausted.

Townsend, in doubles, reached the No.1 ranking for the first time. But at present, she is standing in the second spot with an 8,485 ranking. She was also a part of the USA’s Billie Jean King Cup (lost in the semifinals).
