The bout attracted significant interest and sparked controversy among many spectators. Interestingly, in the aftermath, Bivol’s camp is considering taking action by potentially filing a protest.
The boxing match generated significant excitement within the boxing community since its announcement. However, it appears that many individuals were disappointed with the outcome. During a recent interview, Bivol’s representative, Vadim Kornilov, expressed his frustration. As such, Kornilov also mentioned that he caught one of the supervisors congratulating Team Beterbiev before the official decision was announced.
Dmitry Bivol suffered the loss to Artur Beterbiev by a majority decision. Many onlookers viewed the fight as a close one, with Eddie Hearn expressing dissatisfaction with the judges’ scoring. Additionally, several other boxers took to social media to criticize the scorecards. Initially, Bivol seemed to accept the controversial decision, but recent developments suggest that this outcome could spark a heated rivalry.

Bivol suffered his first professional loss against Beterbiev, preventing him from achieving undisputed status. Not only that, the 33-year-old also lost his WBA and IBO belts to his Russian rival. On the other hand, Beterbiev’s victory extended his impressive win streak to 21. However, unlike his previous bout, the 39-year-old could not secure a knockout against Bivol.

Artur Beterbiev is undoubtedly one of the most feared boxers in light heavyweight boxing. One of the reasons for this is the Russian boxer’s capability to annihilate his opponents. Most recently, British boxer Callum Smith was at the receiving end of it. However, his recent controversial fight against Bivol forced a reaction from Team Beterbiev as well.
After the match, in an exclusive interview, Beterbiev’s coach, John Scully, provided his analysis of the fight. In addition, Scully delved into potential future opponents for Beterbiev. Furthermore, he addressed the criticism and challenges that Beterbiev and the team have encountered.
Several other prominent figures, like Scully, believe that both Bivol and Beterbiev should be given the opportunity for a rematch. The chairman of the Saudi GEA, Turki Alalshikh, in particular, publicly expressed his confusion after hearing the scorecards. As such, even mentioned his wish to see a rematch. However, it is uncertain whether this matchup will be granted a rematch.
