“We have seen him in Costa Rica!” Team USA, accused of LYING about Kawhi Leonard by Gilbert Arenas
Gilbert Arenas accuses Team USA of lying about dropping Kawhi Leonard. He cited the inconsistency provided by the Team USA.
Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard and injuries remain among the most disappointing storylines in the NBA. In recent years, he has struggled to remain fully fit for the post-season. Leonard faced yet another disappointment when he couldn’t go to the Paris Olympics. Even though he made the team, the Clippers star eventually pulled out to focus on his health.
The Clippers superstar had his health struggles following his unavailability this past season. Instead, the Team USA Olympic basketball team selected him. Leonard practiced with the team until their departure to Abu Dhabi. Now, Gilbert Arenas has accused Team USA of manufacturing lies about Leonard’s situation.

The Clippers certainly did not benefit from Leonard struggling with injuries. Shortly after their playoff exit, Leonard toured Costa Rica. Arenas looked through the statement that Team USA Basketball released about Leonard’s departure. As such, he didn’t believe Leonard trained with the team extensively.
Leonard’s sudden dropout from the team remains a concerning move regarding his basketball career. Gilbert Arenas thought the entire withdrawal from Team USA had elements of fluff in it. Leonard will use the offseason to heal up from whatever injuries he faces. Nevertheless, it has caught the attention of the NBA world.
Paul Pierce backs Team USA on dropping out Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard was out 48% of the game last season and was still paid the contract money by the franchise. The move might surprise everyone, but the Clippers want to somehow make it work with Leonard. As such, they move forward with Leonard as the leading man next season.
However, his hopes of winning the gold medal with Team USA took a hit. Retired NBA star Paul Pierce did not criticize the decision. Despite Leonard pulling out, Pierce believed it was for the best. The former Celtics star revealed why Leonard had to pull out.

Looking at his history of injuries and recovery taking seasons to end, the Clippers want their well-paid star to remain injury-free at the start of the season. Playing in the Olympics would have hampered that plan. Leonard would not have gotten enough time to heal up following the Olympic games. As such, Paul Pierce believed it was for the best.
