Caitlin Clark and USA Women's Basketball Team
WNBA and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been making the headlines lately after she was snubbed by the USA Women’s basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Notably, Clark had a poor start to her debut WNBA season but then picked pace and adapted to the league. Interestingly, a member of the selection committee, Dawn Staley shared her views on Clark’s exclusion recently.
Dawn Staley, a member of the USA Basketball selection committee and head coach of South Carolina, stated on an NBC Live Interview that Clark’s recent play presented a compelling argument for her participation in the Olympics. On June 11, Clark was the player with the greatest popularity to be left off of the women’s Olympic team.
Caitlin is just a rookie in the WNBA, wasn’t playing bad, but wasn’t playing like she’s playing now. If we had to do it all over again, the way that she’s playing, she would be in really high consideration of making the team because she is playing head and shoulders above a lot of people.Dawn Staley told NBC
On the contrary, Clark is in the running to win the 2024 Rookie of the Year Award alongside the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese. Clark has been one of the best players for the Fever, and her exclusion from the US Women’s basketball squad baffles many WNBA and USA fans. It remains to be seen whether or not Clark opens up on this matter or chooses to stay quiet.
