Canada and their team of young superstars were coming into these games after their impressive third-place finish at the FIBA World Cup held last year. Since then, some of the stars have blossomed during this past NBA season. However, Victor Wembanyama and France decided to spoil Dillon Brooks and his teammates’ party, leaving fans in a frenzy.

It is not just why they lost, but rather how. France made some crucial moves ahead of the quarterfinal matchup. That meant the onus was on Victor Wembanyama to start and hold down the fort. He did that with aplomb even though he had an off-shooting night. That showed when Wembanyama hustled to first poke a ball loose. Then, there was a crucial block on Canada defensive specialist Dillon Brooks. His teammates also had a major impact on the game.

Had Victor Wembanyama and France finished the night with unreal numbers, which led to the Canadians losing the game, it might not have led to this.
