Former Pakistan cricketer-turned commentator Ramiz Raja termed Indian opener, Rohit Sharma, as one of the greatest limited-overs cricketers. He called Rohit a ‘match-winner’ and said that India would miss his services during the upcoming tour of Australia in the limited-overs formats.

“Rohit is a match-winner and teams get scared of him. When teams huddle together before a batsman arrives at the crease as Sharma does it says a lot. Rohit’s absence is a big loss to India.” Raja said on his YouTube channel Cricket Baaz.

Rohit Sharma will join the Indian contingent ahead of the Test series against Australia, commencing from December 17. The 33-year won’t take part in the One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals due to an injury. Sharma injured his hamstring during the recently-concluded season of Indian Premier League.

India has the batting line-up to tame Australia: Raja

Ramiz Raja said that the Australian pitches offer less bounce and movement than they did a few years back. He stated that India has the perfect team to give a tough competition to the Aussies in their home ground, despite the absence of Virat Kohli.

“There are already complaints in Australia about the absence of Virat Kohli after the first Test in Adelaide. I think India has the batting line-up to tame Australia plus the Indian bowling has improved a lot. They have a very good attack now, and Australia will have this in mind,” Raja said.

“The pitches in Australia are no longer what they used to be some years back. I mean there is less bounce, sideways movement and they are less venomous. And I think Australia will want to have full five-day Tests against India for viewership figures given their requirements,” he added.
