Tear-jerking gesture from Dallas steakhouse for Luka Doncic leaves fans emotional: “Nico is a supervillain”
A Dallas Steakhouse's heartfelt tribute for Luka Doncic had fans up in arms at Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison for 'villainous' trade.

Luka Doncic's emotional tribute makes fans call out Nico Harrison
The Dallas Mavericks’ decision to trade Luka Doncic was one of the most shocking in NBA History. The only ones more shocked than Doncic himself, perhaps, were the Mavericks fans themselves. The Slovenian star had built a homely community in Dallas, and was an icon amongst the townsfolk. Following his trade, one particular Dallas Steakhouse put up a heartfelt tribute for Doncic.
Nick and Sam’s Steakhouse, one of the most popular joints in Dallas located at 3008 Maple Ave, was a spot that Luka Doncic often frequented. The chef, Chef Samir, was among the many Mavericks fans shaken by Doncic’s departure from the Mavericks and the town. Recently, he put up an emotional tribute for the reigning Western Conference Finals MVP.
In my 25-plus year career, I feel blessed to say I have met some interesting and incredible people who have walked through the doors of Nick & Sam’s. But it’s not often that you come across someone as special as Luka Doncic. Luka is one of the most caring, warm, and funniest guys I know. His love for Dallas shined through with every conversation and game… Luka, no matter what stage of life you’re in, I’ll always cheer you on and wish you the very best. Thank you for everything you have done for our community! Looking forward to seeing you again, friend.
Chef Samir wrote in a social media post
The love that Doncic has received from across the NBA community, especially from the city that drafted him, has been a testament to his character. Even though Doncic spent most of his life growing up in Europe and playing basketball for Real Madrid, he took to Dallas like fish to water.

I think Nico will be eating a lot of to-go food in the future. He won’t be welcome in many restaurant dining rooms in DFW.

At just 25 years old, Doncic has certainly been amongst the most significant basketball stars to play in Dallas, perhaps only second to Dirk Nowitzki. As the love for the Lakers’ latest superstar addition continued to grow, Doncic himself responded to the tribute by Nick and Sam’s. He dropped a heart emoji in the comments section of the post, clearly showing how much the tribute meant to him.
