WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has once again become a hot topic for discussion among wrestling fans. Although he is considered one of the greatest ever to step foot in the ring, his life has been full of controversies. Recently, he was accused of racism after he allegedly fired a social media influencer from his beer beverage brand. In light of that, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long shared his thoughts on this topic.
While speaking on The Wrestling Time Machine podcast with Mac Davis, Teddy Long felt that the allegations against Hulk Hogan were premature. He supported the statement released by the brand’s spokesperson, which mentioned that The Immortal was not involved in the decision. He stated that it wasn’t as serious as people made it out to be.
Long added that Hogan’s previous allegations of racism might have influenced the current situation. He felt that the title of ‘racist’ had always followed him through the years. The Hall of Famer explained that fans always believe that Hogan has done something racist whenever something negative comes out about him.
The last thing you said at the end there, you know that wasn't a decision made by Hogan, that was a decision made by the company. To me, that seems right. You know what I mean, I think the young lady, I don't know her, but sometimes people can jump the gun.Teddy Long on Hulk Hogan via Sportkeeda WrestleBinge
Regarding his relationship with WWE, he last appeared on the January 23, 2023, episode of Raw to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary. Moreover, earlier this year, WWE celebrated 40 years of ‘Hulkamania,’ with Hogan appearing in pre-show footage. It is difficult to say when his next appearance will be amid all the allegations.
Wrestling veteran, Vince Russo, expressed his honest opinion on the allegations
While Teddy Long gave Hulk Hogan the benefit of the doubt regarding the allegations against him, Vince Russo had a slightly different opinion. He felt that hiring a black employee might have been an attempt to cover up his past racism accusations.
While speaking on the Legion of RAW podcast, Russo recalled an old incident related to the Hall of Famer. He stated that Hogan had a history of getting into controversy when he made negative comments about his daughter dating a black individual.
It's funny bro because, with all the heat that he got with the comments when his daughter was dating that black dude, with all that heat he got, you think he purposely would have a black [indefinite but maybe employee]. You know what I'm saying? That just sounds very very very stupid.Vince Russo via the Legion of RAW podcast
Fans believed that Hogan’s actions were not very Christian, given that he was baptized a few months ago. The wrestling veteran thought that The Immortal One had purposely hired a black employee to clean up his image. Nonetheless, only time will tell what Hogan does to address all the allegations against him.
