20-time Grand Slam title winner and an absolute legend of the game, Roger Federer has been enjoying his retirement very well, exploring places from places to coming as a guest to several Grand Slam competitions. Recently, he shot a short scene during his visit to New York where he talked about how beautiful and brilliant it is to visit the city.

The video was sponsored by Uniqlo, the brand that is endorsed by Roger, and included a 12-year-old Chess Master named Tani Adewumi. They both shared a conversation regarding Federer’s achievements during his career and how the kid went on to become so good at the sport. Federer didn’t even stand a chance against the 12-year-old, who was checkmate twice in the two games of chess they played against each other.

Just after the first game, young Tani was going to invite his friends over to watch the second game, and it was at this moment that a funny conversation took place where Rafa was mentioned. Federer asked, “Hie friends? Even his buddies? Oh, my God. It’s so unfair, this game.” To which the kid replied, “You should have brought Nadal and them.” Roger was funny enough to reply back, saying, “Yeah, where are they when I need them? I thought they were my friends, too. You know clearly not.”

It’s no secret that Federer and Nadal have a lot of respect for each other, and they are very good friends as well. The moment when Federer played his last match in the Laver Cup alongside Rafa will be a moment that tennis fans will forever cherish. The moment when Rafa held Roger’s hands when it was the most difficult aspect of Roger’s career to bid the sport a final goodbye is a true example of what a great relationship these two share among themselves.

Former coach Ivan Ljubicic had also previously talked about their relationship, saying that if either of them needed any help, both would “right away” be there beside the other in support. “At first, they only had respect for each other. Over time, they realized that they had shared many special moments. If Rafa called Roger tomorrow for something, he would do it right away. And vice versa”, he added.
