Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Sam Querrey: Preview
Third-seeded and World No. 21 Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada defeated Ugo Humbert of France in the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart Open on Friday to make his way into the semis. Aliassime was stretched in both the sets, however, he kept his cool under pressure and eventually won the contest by 7-6, 7-6.
Earlier, Aliassime made his way into the final four of the Murray River Open in which he went past France’s Corentin Moutet in straight sets to reach the finals of the tournament ATP final. However, Dan Evans’ incredible run of form prevented him from lifting the trophy.
Auger-Aliassime has been especially good with his power-packed serves. In the game against Ugo Hambert, there was very little to choose between the two top-class players but one striking difference was that Auger-Aliassime struck 17 aces against Humbert’s four which eventually confirmed him a place in the final 4.
He is now going to face Sam Querrey who has been in great touch as well. However, Sam was stretched to the third and final set by Swiss tennis star Dominic Stephan Stricker in the quarter-finals. After two hard-fought sets, Sam eventually dominated the proceedings in the final set to book a place in the semis.
