WATCH: Andy Murray signs autographs after his opening round victory at Winston-Salem

3-time grand slam champion Andy Murray started his campaign at the Winston-Salem Open with a straight sets victory over lucky loser Noah Rubin 6-2,6-0 to enter the second round. Murray was to initially face Australian showman Nick Kyrgios in a blockbuster opener but the Aussie withdrew just hours before the match due to an injury after which lucky loser Noah Rubin was drafted in.
Despite struggling with form, Rubin was of no match to Murray as the Briton showcased all his experience and class to storm in the second round. He dropped just two games in the opening set and bageled Rubin in the second to win the match.
After a long time, tennis tournaments in the USA is allowing 100% crowd. Many players including Murray have been vocal about this and said that the crowd brought back ‘normalcy’ to tennis. Murray gets backed by the crowd heavily in almost every part of the world and hence loves playing in their presence.
After his victory, the Brit was seen signing autographs for the fans; a small gesture to give back to the fans.
Murray to face Tiafoe in the second round

Andy Murray will be up against American 13th seed Frances Tiafoe in the second round of Winston-Salem Open on Tuesday. Both Murray and Tiafoe have almost similar gamestyle and are in decent form. Murray is slowly gaining form, given his outing at Wimbledon. He has all the experience in the world to beat anyone, but his movement is restricted due to groin injury. Tiafoe will look to tire Murray by engaging him in long rallies.
The match promises to be an exciting one with no player starting as a clear favorite but Murray will have an edge given his match temperament.
