Andy Murray announces a tragic “Coaching Move” until the end of Indian Wells
Andy Murray
World No. 87 Andy Murray continues to rise in the ATP rankings having broken into the ATP Top-100 last week, entering into a double-digit ranking for the first time in 45 months. Murray was ranked 95th in the world when he started at the 2022 Rotterdam Open.
The journey however ended in the second round when the Brit was defeated by eventual champion Felix Auger-Aliassime. The 34-year-old then was disappointing both in Qatar and Dubai, losing at the round of 16 stages in both the tournaments to Roberto Bautista Agut and Jannick Sinner respectively.
Murray to work with former coaches for Indian Wells
After weeks of speculation on who’ll be the coach of Andy Murray, the Scot shocked the world by announcing the return of Ivan Lendl as his coach.
However, the Scot will use three different coaches for the Indian Wells before he joins up with Ivan Lendl for pre-Wimbledon camp. Murray and Lendl will target Wimbledon as their main objective this year as reported by inews.co.uk.
Despite announcing Lendl as his coach earlier this week, the Czech is yet to join up with him in the States and Murray has been working with Mark Hilton this week as he prepares for Indian Wells, the Masters 1000-level event held in California.
Hilton will be the coach at Indian Wells, in close contact with and under instruction from Lendl, before heading back to the UK. Murray has also arranged with two other British coaches to join him in Miami later in the month. Great Britain Davis Cup captain Leon Smith will lead the team with James Trotman, who coaches up-and-coming British No.5, Jack Draper, also expected to help out.
With the disappointing results in the prior tournaments, Murray would hope to regain his form and continue his rise up the rankings.
