Men’s Singles Draw Analysis and Prediction
Top Half
Frenchman Gael Monfils will headline the top half of the draw. He will face either Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo or Alex Bolt in the Round of 16. Sixth seed Tommy Paul will lock horns against Jiri Vesely in the opening round and could face Italian sensation Lorenzo Musetti or a qualifier in the second round.
American 4th seed Frances Tiafoe is also in the top half and will face the winner of an all-Australian clash, John Millman vs Thanasi Kokkinakis. Korean 8th seed Soonwoo Kwon will open against fellow Asian Yoshihito Nishioka. The winner will face either Benjamin Bonzi or Mikael Ymer in the Round of 16.
First Semi-Final Prediction: Gael Monfils vs Frances Tiafoe
Bottom Half
In the bottom half, Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Karen Khachanov will lead the field. After a first round bye, he will face either Steve Johnson or Aleksander Vukic in the Round of 16. 5th seed Marton Fucsovics opens against a qualifier and will face either countryman Gianluca Mager or a qualifier in the second round. Fucsovics and Khachanov could lock horns in the quarterfinal.
Former US Open champion Marin Cilic is seeded third and will face either Thiago Monteiro or Daniel Altmaier in the second round. 7th seed Laslo Djere will take on Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena in the opening round, with the winner facing either a qualifier or Corentin Moutet.
Second Semi-Final Prediction: Marin Cilic vs Karen Khachanov
Semifinals
Top seed Gael Monfils is expected to face Frances Tiafoe in the first semifinal. Monfils is a veteran on tour and knows how to win big matches. He is known for his unorthodox style of play and will once again hope for a good start to the season. As for Tiafoe, he has proved his mettle many times in 2021 and will look to capitalize on a good draw in Adelaide. The match will be closely contested with Monfils making it to the final.
In the second semifinal, Marin Cilic will face Karen Khachanov. Cilic, like Monfils, is a veteran on tour and had an amazing second half of the season. As for Khachanov, he too had a decent season last year and would fancy his chances to go a step ahead this year. Cilic is expected to prevail in the final.

Final
Both Monfils and Cilic had a very bad start to the previous season which they’d desperately want to change this year. Both the players have loads of experience which should come to their aid once again. The match could eventually be decided on who serves better and Cilic, with his big first serve should come out the victor.
