Serbia vs Norway: Preview

Serbia are the defending ATP Cup champions but will miss the duties of their star player, Novak Djokovic. In Djokovic’s absence, Dusan Lajovic will play the lead singles. He is more of a clay court player but showed his temperament in last year’s ATP Cup. In the second singles, Lajovic will face Casper Ruud. Ruud is coming off a breakthrough season where he won 6 titles and finished as the World No.8. He would want to keep the momentum going this season too- starting from the Australian swing.

Filip Krajinovic will play the opening singles for Serbia. He himself thrives on clay but has time and again proved his mettle on hard courts too. Krajinovic will play Viktor Durasovic, who is ranked outside the top 300, in the opening match and will back himself to beat him. In doubles, any of Lajovic or Krajinovic will most probably partner Nikola Cacic against the probable pairing of Ruud and Rivera.

Serbia vs Norway: Prediction

Although Ruud is the highest ranked player amongst both the team, Serbia will still start as the favorites to win the tie. Norway’s second best player is ranked outside the top 300 which is just not good enough at this level. Ruud is expected to beat Lajovic but Serbia willl back themselves to win the other two matches and eventually wrap up the tie.

Prediction: Serbia to win 2-1.
