The Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships has a rich tradition of hosting some of the best players in tennis. Roger Federer holds the tournament record with eight titles, while Novak Djokovic has won it five times. Other former World No.1 players such as Thomas Muster, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray have also claimed victory in the ATP 500 tournament.
The Dubai Tennis Championships recently held the WTA tour and is now set to welcome the best ATP players in the upcoming week. The ATP 500 tournament will take place from February 27 to March 4, 2023, with Novak Djokovic leading as the top seed. Djokovic is returning to action for the first time since winning his 22nd Major title at the Australian Open in January, and he is determined to maintain his undefeated record this year.
Additionally, he aims to secure his sixth championship at the Dubai Tennis Championships. The third-seeded Daniil Medvedev is currently in excellent form, having won the ABN AMRO Open by defeating Jannik Sinner in the final. While Andrey Rublev, the defending champion, holds the second seed in the tournament. However, he has had a somewhat uneven season thus far, with a 5-5 record.
Notable players such as Hubert Hurkacz, Alexander Zverev, and Karen Khachanov are also set to compete in the tournament. However, Rafael Nadal and Marin Cilic withdrew from the competition due to their ongoing injuries. Despite this, the Dubai Tennis Championships still promises to be a thrilling event with numerous in-form players competing.
