Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2024 Draw Preview
First Quarter
No.1 seed and World No.4 Daniel Medvedev is a strong favorite in the Dubai tennis championships. After another historic Australian Open run, this is the first tournament that the Russian will be playing at and will hope to get the job done this time, making it his second title in straight years.
Posing threat will be the No.8th seed Fokina, who might try and cause an upset at the quarter-final stage. But before that, there is also a small window of an upset with Lorenzo Sonego in the game, along with Indian sensation Sumit Nagal.
Quarterfinals prediction: Daniil Medvedev vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Second Quarter
The next quarter features the No.3 seed Hubert Hurkacz, who is one of the best servers in the game and might power himself to the next round on pure skill. After a good Australian Open run followed by an Open 13 run, the Pole is a player to watch out for.
This quarter is one of the exciting phases of the tournament, where they have three players, who can also be known as the underdogs, Other than Ugo Humbert, even Gael Monfils and Andy Murray may pose a challenge in the quarter.
Quarterfinals prediction: Hubert Hurkacz vs Gael Monfils
Third Quarter
The next half of the group, or the third quarter is led by Karen Khachanov, who has been in great touch lately. Not only with his shots, but the Russian has also showcased his fancy shots in recent matches.
This quarter also has other players, who may not be seeded but have been in great touch recently. With Alexander Bublik also present in the tournament, there are chances for anyone in this quarter to advance.
Quarterfinals prediction: Karen Khachanov vs Alexander Bublik
Fourth Quarter
The last quarter of this tournament is led by the No. 2 seed Andrey Rublev. In great form, the Russian has entered the quarter-finals in his last three tournaments, and hopefully, the fourth time’s the charm.
However, he has some challenges in his quarter. Starting his tournament against Zhizhen Zhang, the Russian may also have to deal with Sebastian Korda and Lorenzo Musetti.
Quarterfinals prediction: Andrey Rublev vs Sebastian Korda
Semifinal
With many players who can cause an upset, the semi-final draw is rather hard to decide. However, due to Medvedev’s outstanding form at the Australian Open, and his winning run here last year, the Russian might make it to the semi-finals. Joining him might be Hurkacz, who is in great form himself, and has the ability to pull off some important wins.
For the second half, there is a lot of competition in the quarters, but hopefully, it can be the Russian Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov in the semis.
Final
There is no telling who might be the finalist, but based on the predictions above, there are high chances that the final is an All-Russian battle. With the defending champion on one side, and his opponent, either of the Russians. The fans have seen many Medvedev-Rublev clashes and would hope for another one, but Khachanov might play his best tennis to try and win.
Champion Prediction: Daniil Medvedev
