Frenchman Gasquet has been on the road a long time now. The thirty-four year old turned pro in 2002, and in the last nineteen years he has managed to win fifteen ATP trophies. His last title came in the year 2018 on the grass courts of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The last few years have not been that great for Gasquet as he has struggled with injury and form.

In this year’s clay court leg, Gasquet has participated but without much success. He was ousted in the first round of both the Barcelona Open and the Italian Open. In the Lyon Open he managed to reach the Quarter Finals, falling to Karen Khachanov 1-6 6-7. At Parma so far, he has beaten Daniel Altmaier in the first round and Pedro Martínez in the second. His opponent in the Quarters is Jaume Munar.

Munar lost in the first round of the Madrid Open and failed to qualify for the Italian open. The Spaniard though has put up a good show in this tournament. In the first he beat Mikael Ymer. In the second he was leading Benoît Paire 7-5 3-1 when the latter decided to withdraw from the match, a walkover into the Quarters for Munar.

Richard Gasquet vs Jaume Munar: Prediction

Richard Gasquet

Gasquet plays his best tennis on clay. The Frenchman who is known to possess a stupendous one handed backhand has shown some form recently. He has been firing aces too, but needs to work on converting the break points. In the last game he could complete just four of the ten break points he got.

His double faults can be a problem too. Munar must work on winning more points on his service game, his return seems to be working fine. Gasquet should see this one through.

Match Prediction: Richard Gasquet will beat Jaume Munar in three sets
