Nikoloz Basilashvili had a dreadful start to his 2022 season. Before coming into this tournament, he failed to register a win in any of his matches this year. After receiving a bye in the first round, he finally ended his losing streak of 8 matches with a straight-set win over Elias Ymer in the second round. Roberto Bautista Agut kicked off his campaign in Doha with a 6-0, 6-1 win over former World No.1 Andy Murray in the second round and notched up another dominant win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarter-finals. The Spaniard had to fight hard for a win in the semis, he overcame a set deficit to defeat Karen Khachanov 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 to book a place in the finals.
