Nick Kyrgios
The Australian tennis sensation Nick Kyrgios has been fined $25,000 for issues that occurred during his BNP Paribas Open loss to Rafael Nadal.
The World No. 132 played in an elevated, drama-filled match with the 21-time Grand Slam champion, but lost 7-6 (0) 5-7 6-4. The match eventually ended with Kyrgios slamming his racket into the floor after shaking hands with Rafael Nadal, following which he used swear words and dragged Hollywood comedian Ben Stiller into his drama. Ball boy Tei Park was forced to crouch for shelter when the racket abruptly rebounded near the arena wall. However, Kyrgios eventually used Instagram to track down the ball boy’s identity and apologised to him.
However, considering that Nick Kyrgios has been fined $20,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. The ATP has added $5,000 to the fine for audible vulgarity, but no ban has been granted.
This is not the first time for Nick Kyrgios
Nick Kyrgios’ feud with umpire Fergus Murphy erupted after an explosive outing at the Cincinnati Masters, leaving the Australian star out of pocket by $167,000 and facing an ATP penalty. At the end of the second set, Kyrgios lost his cool and broke two rackets during a restroom break that Murphy had refused him permission to take, before calling the umpire a “f*****g tool” at the conclusion of the match. The sanctions included an $85,000 total for five counts of unsportsmanlike conduct, $20,000 for verbal abuse, $5,000 for an audible obscenity, and $3,000 for fleeing the court.
However, in dint of this, it appears that his latest outburst in Indian Wells 2022 adequately justified the remark “History repeats itself.”
