Andy Murray made a disappointing start to his 2022 campaign after losing in the first round of Melbourne (Summer Set), however he didn’t let that loss deter him as he is on course to reach the finals of  the ongoing Sydney tournament, having won three matches in a row. He missed last year’s Australian Open after testing positive for COVID-19 and will be hoping to begin his campaign this year on a better note.

Nikoloz Basilashvili had a good end to his last season having finished runner-up to Cameron Norrie at Indian Wells in October. But he had a lackluster start to his season this year and is yet to register a win to his name. The 29-year old’s best result at the Australian Open was a third round finish which he achieved in 2018 and 2019.  His previous match was co-incidentally against Andy Murray which he lost with a score of 7(7)-6(4), 6(3)-7(7),3-6.
