Former World No.1 Andy Murray has started the season on a good note. Despite losing in the first round of Melbourne Summer Set, Murray made a stellar comeback in Sydney. He reached the final of the Sydney Tennis Classic last week. He defeated the likes of David Goffin and Reilly Opelka before losing to top seed Aslan Karatsev in the final. In the first round of Australian Open, Murray once again defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili in five tight sets 6-1,3-6,6-4,6-7(5),6-4 to book a second round spot.

As for Taro Daniel, he has done well so far in 2022. He started the season In Adelaide a week ago where he won two good matches to qualify for the main draw. He then defeated Italian sensation Lorenzo Musetti in three sets before losing to 6th seed Tommy Pual in three sets 4-6,7-6(1),6-4. In the Australian Open, he made it to the main draw without dropping a set in the qualifiers. Andy Murray vs Taro Daniel: Prediction

Andy Murray will start the favorite against the Japanese. He looked good in the first round against a much higher ranked opponent and would fancy his chances to go deep in the tournament given his section of the draw. The only thing that goes in Daniel’s way is that Murray has played a lot of tennis over the last week and could be tired. If he’s physically fine, the Brit will back himself to make it to the third round.

Prediction: Murray to win in 4 sets.
