The first day at the Australian Open 2022 saw some captivating matches with most of the favorites winning their first-round games easily. Although there were a couple of upsets as well. To begin with, Naomi Osaka, Ashleigh Barty, and Paula Badosa got comfortable wins in the first round. However, the biggest upset for the day came from the Margaret Court Arena where Wang Qiang shocked everyone by defeating Coco Gauff in straight sets.

Naomi Osaka faced Colombian Camila Osorio in her first round at the Australian Open 2022. The defending champion was expected to win the match against Osorio who is currently ranked 50th and so she did. Osaka defeated Osorio in straight sets (6-3, 6-3)

Naomi Osaka will continue the run to defend her Australian Open title on Wednesday. Osaka will be facing American Madison Brengle in her second-round match.

Ashleigh Barty won her first-round encounter against the Ukrainian player Lesia Tsurenko. She defeated Tsurenko in straight sets and she dropped only a single game while she did that 6-0, 6-1. Barty’s pure dominance proves that the world No.1 is hungry to win her first Australian Open this year.

Next Barty is going to face Lucia Bronzetti from Mexico on Wednesday. With the forme she is in the world No.1 would be expected to win a comfortable game and move into the third round.

Easy win for Paula Badosa in Round One

Paula Badosa in her first match against the Australian Ajla Tomljanović won the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-0. The world No.6 at this Australian Open will be looking for her first Grand Slam title and by looking at the form she is in, she does stand a chance to bring the title home.

However, she has got her task cut out in front of her and she needs to focus and continue the way she has been playing. Badosa will be facing Mexican Martina Trevisan in her second-round match on Wednesday.

Coco Gauff goes out in the First-round!!!

The world No.18 Coco Gauff was expected to win her first match against Wang Qiang. But in an unbelievable turn of events, it was Wang who managed to defeat Gauff in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. It seemed as if Gauff just didn’t bring her A-game to the court.

Not to take any credit away from the Chinese Wang Qiang who played a beautiful game and defeated the World No.18. Wang will be facing the Belgian Alison Van Uytvanckn in Round Two on Wednesday.
