Great Britain‘s Emma Raducanu will face Sloane Stephens from the United States on her Australian Open debut. Raducanu had a stellar debut last year at her first Grand Slam having reached the fourth round of Wimbledon and then became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam tournament in Open Era to win the US Open. It is her first full season on the WTA circuit.

The British teen has been struggling for form recently having won only 2 matches after her surprise victory at Flushing Meadows last year. Meanwhile, Sloane Stephens has also been struggling with inconsistency, she failed to advance past the 4^th round of any of the slams last year and was knocked out in the 1^st round of last year’s Australian Open. Raducanu lost her previous match against Elena Rybakina 6-0, 6-1 while Stephens also lost her previous match against Jessica Pegula 6-2, 6-3.
