Leylah Fernandez won her first WTA title at the Monterrey Open last year. She was knocked out in the opening rounds of the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and in the second round of Roland Garros last year. In the subsequent slam, the US Open, the Canadian teen had a remarkable turnaround as she reached the finals at Flushing Meadows. Enroute to the finals she staged massive upsets as she defeated defending champion Naomi Osaka, multiple Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber and second seed Aryna Sabalenka among others. She lost in the finals to Emma Raducanu, who was also playing in the final of a Grand Slam for the first time..

This match will be Inglis’s third appearance at the Australian Open in six years. She is yet to win a match in the main draw at Melbourne Park. The Aussie has 5 ITF titles to her name.
