Ons is going into this match with fitness concerns as she had to retire midway through her quarter-final match against Anett Kontaveit at the WTA Sydney Tennis Classic with a back injury. Before this match. She won her earlier rounds comfortably in straight sets.

Nuria Parrizas-Diaz has won 3 matches and lost two this year. She will be looking to improve her service game as she has more double faults than aces in her previous matches. This will be the first appearance in the main draw of the Australian Open for the Spaniard, after having lost in the qualifying stages of the tournament last two years.

While there hasn’t been any update after the Tunisian forfeited her last match with an injury, she is still the favourite to win it, barring a surprise withdrawal.
