World No.1 Novak Djokovic had captured the headlines for a long time because of his prolonged visa saga. The player was eventually deported to his nation after many days of investigation and court appeals.

Alongside his visa and stand against vaccination rows, the World No.1 was also blighted by another controversy after it came to be known that he had attended public events despite positive testing for the virus

Recently, Novak Djokovic dropped a bombshell interview in which he expressed his willingness to give up titles and participation in Grand Slams in order to stay put on his stand against being forced to get vaccinated. Following that, former professional Prakash Amritraj gave his views on the matter.

While discussing the matter on Tennis Channel, Amritraj hailed the decision as bold, emphasizing that while the stand Djokovic took was very risky, ultimately everyone has the right to make their own individual decisions and no one should be able to interfere in them. The 38-year-old said that one has to be in peace and be comfortable with the decisions they make so that they don’t regret it later.

“Bold. I have seen it, but seeing it again, it just completely hits you. Let’s just take a step back for a minute here. As an individual, I think we have to be at peace with all of our decisions. When we go to our grave at the end of the day, we are the ones who are going to have to look back on our lives before we go to see our maker. You want to be completely comfortable with all the decisions you’re making and have no regrets. And it seems like that’s where Novak is,” he said.

Amritraj then went on to speculate on the cause for Djokovic’s stand, expressing his curiosity on why the World No.1 had taken this stand against so much hardships. Talking to the host, he wondered if the reason was health-related or whether it was more related to culture and personal beliefs.

“I am just very curious, is there a reason behind it? Is it a health reason, maybe religious? We are not quite sure, but he is very staunch in his beliefs,” he said.

He then concluded the discussion by saying that one should live life on their own terms just like Djokovic is doing, instead of following what’s being told to them. “If you start living for other people, you are not going to be able to live with yourself. I think that’s what it comes down to.”
