Belinda Bencic has been one of the most promising players on tour since the past few years. However, the 24-year-old has often failed to live up to her expectations, as she has not made her mark at any big events. At Tokyo Olympics, she rose to fame, after claiming the gold medal in Women’s Singles.

The Swiss defeated Marketa Vondrousova in three sets in the final to claim the gold medal. En-route her victory in Tokyo, she defeated the French Open champion and runner-up in the earlier rounds. Moreover, Bencic also went on to win the silver medal in the Women’s Doubles event, as she returned home with two prestigious medals.

Belinda Bencic received a congratulatory message from his fellow Swiss, Roger Federer after her win. She was delighted to have received a message from the 20-time Grandslam champion, and stated that it was really heart-warming.
