American teen tennis sensation Ben Shelton has been making the headlines since his performance at the 2023 US Open. The 20-year-old grabbed the eyeball with his bullet serves. Not only that, Shelton made it to the last four, defeating the likes of Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, and Dominic Thiem.
At the 2023 US Open, Ben Shelton being a local lad, enjoyed some really good crowd support. The youngster’s family members including his father, Bryan Shelton, mother, Lisa Witsken Shelton, and sister Emma Shelton were also seen cheering for the 20-year-old which helped him perform better than ever.
Shelton’s performance on the tour has not been surprising as tennis runs in his family. Shelton’s father is a former professional tennis player and Florida Gators men’s tennis coach. The American’s mother was also a top-ranked junior tennis player. Meanwhile, Shelton’s sister, Emma, is also a professional tennis player.
Who is Ben Shelton’s sister?
Ben Shelton’s elder sister, Emma, who is two years older than him, is also a professional tennis player. She has won several accolades while playing for the ITA and SEC. Emma was named the SEC Fresher and Newcomer of the Week in April 2021. She was also named ITA Carolina Region Rookie of the Year in 2020. Emma also won the USTA Winter National Championships in January.
Shelton currently plays for the Florida Gators where her father is the men’s tennis head coach. The 22-year-old has been a constant support and guide to Ben, who also played for the Florida Gators. Although Emma has not advanced enough to play on the WTA tour, she has been doing enough while playing for the Florida Gators.
