The Swiss top ranked Belinda Bencic entered Berlin’s Grass as the fourth Seed eyeing towards the prize where she rose against Jule Niemeier playing with home advantage in a three setter. Bencic, then went on to defeat Croatian Petra Martic in a smooth fashion to land in the Quarterfinals. The former World No. 4 hasn’t had the best year with lukewarm performances leading to early departures from all her tournaments except in Adelaide, where she lost against Polish Iga Swiatek in the Finals.


Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova has reached this encounter after pulling a massive upset, taking down the second seed Ukranian Elina Svitolina in straight sets. Alexandrova beat the veteran Venus Williams in the French Open 1st round before going down against the Ultimate Champion Krejčíková. While the 26 year old hasn’t particularly had an impressive Clay season, but she did impress everyone when she reached Gippsland Trophy Semis earlier this year.
