“Called various different names” Novak Djokovic opens up on being mocked as ‘NOVAX’

Novak Djokovic
20-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic continues to justify his motive of not getting vaccinated against Covid-19 and explaining his decision. Djokovic’s decision to remain unvaccinated against the deadly virus led to massive drama in Australia during the Serbian’s 10-day stay in the country that eventually ended with him being deported and banned for 3 years from entering again.
Djokovic despite the rules of the Australian government travelled Down Under to play and defend his 3 consecutive Australian Open titles at the 2022 Australian Open. However, he was not allowed to enter and his visa was cancelled as he failed to justify why he has not been vaccinated even though he had the medical exemption to enter the country. What unfolded over the next days led to a massive backlash on the player.
While many former players, pundits and local people believe Djokovic was right not to get vaccinated as it remains his own personal decision. But this was not the reaction of the majority of the people and it led to the Serbian being subjected to massive trolling and open mocking of the player. One such name that became viral was ‘Novax’ which has since then caught up with everyone and many use it to troll the World No. 1 player.
“I’ve been called various different names throughout my career, not just now. There are always those who support you and others who don’t. That’s all I can say,” said Djokovic during his recent interview with Radio Television of Serbia where he presented his own side of the entire episode in Australia.
Novak Djokovic to protect his World No. 1 ranking in the next week

Having missed 2 months of the Tour events already including the 2000 point worth Australian Open 2022, Djokovic is on the verge of being dethroned as the top-ranked player on the ATP Tour. World No. 2 for a while now, Daniil Medvedev can replace the Serbian in more than 5 different situations and it is likely that the Russian might be on the top of the rankings at the end of the month. Novak will make his season debut against Lorenzo Musetti in the first round of the 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships.
