Irina-Camelia Begu vs Ysaline Bonaventure: Preview
Irina-Camelia Begu has been in disappointing form this season. She came into the Gdynia Open after a first-round exit from Hungarian Open where she was defeated in straight sets by Anna Karolína Schmiedlová without much hassle. However, she did show some signs of form at Wimbledon 2021.
Begu won her first two rounds at the grass-court Grand Slam but was brutally thrashed by Iga Świątek in the third round. Swiatek even bageled Begu in the first set. Needless to say, Begu would be desperate to gain some winning momentum by delivering good performances at Gdynia Open.
On the other hand, Ysaline Bonaventure is also coming into the Gdynia Open after a terrible run at Prague Open. She was able to go past Naiktha Bains in the first round, however, her journey ended in the second round when Barbora Krejčíková thrashed her in straight sets.
However, Ysaline would draw some confidence from her run at the German Open this year. She made her way into the top-8 in that tournament and showcased signs of good form. Both tennis stars are itching to make a thumping comeback at the big stage.
Irina-Camelia Begu vs Ysaline Bonaventure: Head to Head
These two players are yet to face each other on the court. Hence, the head-to-head record stands at 0-0.
Irina-Camelia Begu vs Ysaline Bonaventure: Prediction
Ysaline Bonaventure has some momentum on her side as she did well in the German Open. However, her confidence would have gone down after Prague Open. It would be fair to say that the odds are in the favor of Irina-Camelia Begu. The third-seeded player is one of the front-runners to win the Gdynia Open.
