Carlos Alcaraz is one of the most highly rated teenagers on the tennis circuit. The 18-year old has been tipped by many pundits and former players, to become the next big thing in tennis. Alcaraz is surely following the footsteps of his fellow Spaniard, Rafael Nadal who has gone on to win 20 Grandslam titles in his illustrious career so far.

This year has been proving to be a productive for Carlos Alcaraz, as he managed to qualify for the main draw of the Australian Open 2021, which was his first appearance at a major event. Now, the 18-year old has broken into the top 100 rankings of the world, and is the youngest player inside the top 100. The Spaniard won the Open De Oeiras on Saturday, after he defeated Facundo Bagnis in straight sets in the finals.

Carlos Alcaraz claimed the title in Oeiras, Portugal after putting up some brilliant performances throughout the week. The Spaniard breezed past Facundo Bagnis in straight sets in the final, winning 6-4, 6-4. Alcaraz also defeated the Japanese, Taro Daniel in the semifinals on Friday. The youngster has displayed immense courage this week, as he came back from a set down to defeat Brandon Nakashima in the second round.

Carlos Alcaraz realized his dream last week in Madrid, as he faced his idol, Rafael Nadal in the second round clash. Coincidentally, Alcaraz also celebrated his 18th birthday on the same day. The 18-year old lost in straight sets, but would gained some valuable experience. He also reached the semifinals of the Andalucia Open, where he was defeated by Jaume Munar in straight sets.
