The curious case of Peng Shuai reached a stalemate when the WTA decided to go ahead with the investigation. Shuai in an interview with L’Equipe clarified that the acquisition made by her against Shuai China’s senior politician and Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli of Sexual Assault.
The latest advancement in the case came when Chinese Diplomat Victor Gao made a controversial statement regarding Shuai’s sexual assault. According to him, a person of Shuai’s height cannot be molested by a person of my height.
During an interview with 60 Minutes, Australia Gao said, “She is a very tall person. She is taller than I am. So for a person my height trying to take advantage of Peng Shuai, forget about it.”

The former world No.1 in doubles and two-time grand slam winner Peng Shuai released a post on Chinese social media accusing Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli of sexually assaulting her. Her post was deleted within 15 minutes and she disappeared for two months.
Shuai finally resurfaced and clarified that the accusation made by her in the post was false and people should stop overthinking about it. She said, “My private life should not be involved in sports and politics“.
However, the WTA decided to go ahead with the investigation and is still trying to meet Shuai in person. There weren’t any new developments in the case after that.
Recently, a Chinese Diplomat named Victor Gao spoke on ‘60 minutes Australia‘ and made a ridiculous statement about Peng’s height and that being a factor in her most getting sexually assaulted by a guy of his height.
He said, “She is a very successful athlete and physically she can handle things better than many other women,” Gao said. “Because of the maturity of her mind and the maturity of her physical condition, she can take care of herself and she can defend herself in front of whatever man or persons in China.“
“Physically she is very strong, she is a very tall person. She is taller than I am. So for a person my height trying to take advantage of Peng Shuai, forget about it. You’re indulging in fantasy.” Gao added.
Finally, Gao ended by saying, “Whatever happened was way after she was 18 years old. The incident reported on the internet didn’t happen one week ago, it happened years ago. Throughout this period of time, she was a free person, there was no sign of her being harassed.“
