WTA Parma 2021: Coco Gauff books a place in the finals, defeats Katerina Siniakova in three sets

Coco Gauff progressed into the finals of the Parma Open 2021, as she defeated the Czech, Katerina Siniakova in three sets on Friday. The American has been in good form off-late, and has had deep runs in her last two tournaments. She reached the semifinals of Italian Open 2021, where she lost to Iga Swiatek.
Coco Gauff defeated Katerina Siniakova by a score-line of 7-5, 1-6, 6-2. The third seed has been dominant throughout the week in Parma, and has dropped just one set en-route to the finals. The 17-year old also defeated fellow American, Amanda Anisimova in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
Coco Gauff emerges victorious in a three set thriller
Coco Gauff served five aces on Friday, whereas, Siniakova managed to serve just one ace. However, Gauff registered 11 double faults during the match, which cost her dearly in the second set. The 17-year old won 67% on her first serve, and just 59% on her second serve. On the other hand, Katerina Siniakova served better on the day, and won 73% of her points on first serve.
However, the Czech player failed to take her chances against Coco Gauff. She managed to convert just four out of her 13 break point opportunities, whereas, Coco Gauff converted four of her nine opportunities. The American won 96 points in the whole match, compared to her opponent’s tally of 92 points.
Coco Gauff will now face the winner of the other semifinal between Sloane Stephens and Wang Qiang in the finals on Saturday.
