Federico Coria moves into his 2nd semi-final of the season in ATP tournaments and also has 3 semi-final appearances in the Challenger tournaments where he has been fairly active. Coria was up against World No. 18 and the 2nd seeded Chilean Cristian Garin whom Coria defeated 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the quarter-finals of the ATP Bastad 2021.

This was Federico’s 2nd consecutive 3-set victory of the week in Bastad after having won his 1st round match in straight-sets and then won the Round of 16 and quarter-final clash in 3-sets.

Yannick Hanfmann makes it to his maiden semi-final of the season as he battles past Arthur Rinderknech 6-4, 6-3 to register his 3rd consecutive straight-set victory this week and move to the last-4 stage of the tournament. This is his first semi-final appearance in over 11 months and will look to make the most of it.

With having reached the semi-finals in straight-sets and looking pretty comfortable on the soil of the ongoing Nordea Open, Yannick will fancy his chances to make it to his first final of the season as he continues his chase for maiden ATP title.

This will be their first-ever meeting in an ATP tournament, hence the head-to-head stands at 0-0. They have however met thrice on Clay in Challenger level tournaments with Coria winning all 3 of those matches last played in 2019.

Coria will come into the clash with a career Clay record of 441-239 and an overall season record of 30-20 which includes his record of 29-16 on Clay having played a good amount of tennis at the Challenger level as well. Yannick will take the court with a career Clay record of 137-63 and comes into the tie with a season record of 13-16 having been 9-6 on Clay for the season.

While it looks slightly unpredictable as both have turned up well at the tournament, it does seem that Yannick will be the one to advance ahead as he has looked in better form than Coria this week and is yet to drop a set. However, it doesn’t seem likely that Yannick will be able to fend off Coria in straight-sets and the match can certainly go into the 3rd set.
