The Serbian was permitted to play at the Australian Open 2022, solely on the basis of medical exemption. However, the clause which related to his exemption was removed by the authorities, and Tennis Australia were already made aware of the same.

Craig Tiley believes that although, Tennis Australia has come under the hammer in the past few days, the officials have still done a commendable job.

Craig Tiley has falsified claims of players being misled by Tennis Australia. Tiley stated that he emphasized that the best course of action was to get vaccinated prior to arrival in Australia. Moreover, he added that Tennis Australia have always been consistent in regards to their communication.

“We have always been consistent in our communications to players that vaccination is the best course of action – not just as the right thing to do to protect themselves and others, but also as the best course of action to ensure they could arrive in Australia. We reject completely that the playing group was knowingly misled,” Tiley added.

“Informing players they could get into the country on a medical exemption was taken from the Smart Traveller website that Greg Hunt (Health Minister) directly referred us to,” he said.
